National Business Park Building 140
Anne Arundel County, MD
Contract: $8,700,000
Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) and Riparius Construction joined forces for the seventh time at the highly successful National Business Park. Building 140 shares a visual heritage with two other existing buildings on National Business Parkway. It contains variations of architectural elements from each of nearby Buildings 132 and 134, providing continuity and a sense of flow along their shared cul-de-sac. Building 140 sports a radiused curtain wall above the main entry, fashioned in part after its next-door neighbor at building 134. This and other curtain walls in the building contain butt-glazed vertical joints and continuous horizontal mullions. Similarly, Building 140's footprint is modeled after that of Building 132 and three other buildings in the park. Corner curtain walls stepped in from the planes of adjacent precast concrete panels, provide a greater sense of height to the building. A precast concrete cornice further enhances the sense of height while staying within the height requiremtn for high-rise construction. This facility is a four-story office building, totaling 125,000 sf. of Class A office space. The structural steel frame is complemented by the exterior wall construction of architectural precast concrete and reflective green glass.
